Kate is an equine internal medicine specialist and has great interest in cardiac, respiratory and gastro-intestinal disease. She has enjoyed working with racehorses, sport horses and more recently with companion and working horses; improving their health, competitive viability and welfare. Kate worked as an equine internal medicine specialist in the USA for a long time and also at the Beijing Olympics, which were held in Hong Kong, China. Kate is a bit of a ‘juggler’ and has three sons, who have decided not to be vets!

Kate also has a great interest in the welfare of all equids and is the Oceanic board member of the World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA). She has held various offices within WEVA including program chair (Budapest, Hungary) and was the first female president. She is passionate about educating women about equine veterinary practice, and the importance of embracing change and education.
