Giorgio qualified from the University of Turin, Italy 1989. After a few externships and serving duty for his National Service, he then did an Internship in Equine Surgery in 1991-1992 at the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket, UK. He then moved back to Italy where he was in private practice in 1993-2014, where he developed his main areas of interest in lameness and surgery. During this time, he has been a Contract Professor in Equine Surgery at University of Pisa – and Visiting Equine Surgeon at University of Milan. In 2014-2015 he moved to the United Arab Emirates where he was Senior Clinician at Wrsan Racing Stables, Abu Dhabi, attending flat and endurance racehorses.

Since 2016, Giorgio has been a senior clinician focused on lameness and surgery at Donnington Grove Equine Hospital, Newbury, UK. His main field of interest is orthopaedic disease racing and sport horses, with special emphasis on scintigraphy and diagnostic ultrasonography. Giorgio is a Past President of SIVE (Italian Association of Equine Practitioners) and FEEVA (Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations). He is an ISELP certified member since 2018.
