Francesca is a multilingual equine surgeon who has worked in the development sector since completing a surgical residency in 2012. Having grown up in Mozambique, she has always been passionate about the human animal bond, and the incredible role animals hold in supporting communities across the globe. Her focus is on promoting education at all levels, applying the lessons learnt from her equine veterinary training having a One Health MSc to maximize resources and knowledge sharing, making veterinary skills context specific and applicable.
Francesca currently lives in Riyadh (KSA), where she works as an executive director to the Government, advising on a national equine veterinary and welfare strategy. She also scopes, oversees and coordinates the large animal international projects for Worldwide Veterinary Services, with a particular focus on emergency relief work. Francesca is a deeply committed advocate of equine health and welfare, keen to share her experience of working with national and global regulatory authorities, NGOs and Universities and facilitating the creation of links between equine veterinarians across the globe.
