Board Member Cathy graduated from the University of Sydney in 1991 and went on to do her internship in equine medicine and surgery and PhD in equine exercise physiology at Sydney University. She then spent several years in private equine practice before starting a clinical academic career in the UK in 1999 at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), London. Despite her early clinical career and PhD dominated by racehorses and exercise physiology, Cathy became interested in aged horses and endocrine disease, and started research into Equine Cushing’s Syndrome, Equine Metabolic Syndrome and endocrinopathic laminitis which has continued through her various academic posts at the University of Queensland, Australia, University of Helsinki, Finland and the University of Liverpool, UK. Cathy is a Professor of Equine Internal Medicine at the University of Liverpool in the UK and is a Diplomate of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine and an RCVS recognised specialist in equine internal medicine.
